GREATER WORKS

John.14.12 - Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

In volume 1 of our study of Greater Works, some salient points were dealt with. In this volume, we shall take a keen look at two important words: 'works' and 'do'.

Our Lord Jesus said, the works, that He did we shall do the same and do beyond it. So the words, 'works' and 'do' calls for attention.

WORKS, in the Greek word means 'Ergon' which has three different meanings.
First, it means business, employment, that which any one is occupied. Second, that which one undertakes to do, enterprise, undertaking
any product whatever, any thing accomplished by hand, art, industry, or mind. Third, it is an act, deed, or a thing done.

DO, in the Greek language is poieo and it has two classes of meanings.

First class is TO MAKE and it means
with the names of things made, to produce, construct, form, fashion, etc.
to be the authors of, the cause
to make ready, to prepare
to produce, bear, shoot forth
to acquire, to provide a thing for one's self
to make a thing out of something
to (make, i.e.) render one anything
to (make, i.e.) constitute or appoint one anything, to appoint or ordain one that
to (make, i.e.) declare one anything
to put one forth, to lead him out
to make one do something
cause one to
to be the authors of a thing (to cause, bring about)
SECOND CLASS is TO DO and it means
to act rightly, do well
to carry out, to execute
to do a thing unto one
to do to one
with designation of time: to pass, spend
to celebrate, keep
to make ready, and so at the same time to institute, the celebration of the passover
to perform: to a promise.

Dear reader, can you see that Greater works is not only healing the sick, performing signs and wonders.
From the first meaning, if you get an employment and all you do is to share tracts consistently until so many are accustomed to reading, you have done greater works. Why? It wasn't capture in the scripture that Jesus did that.

In the same vein, if I construct a Building for the furtherance of the works of God, it is a greater work. Why? It wasn't captured that Jesus did that!

Now what makes  a work a greater work is:
1. It may what Jesus has done before or not.
2. It must be to the glory of God.
3. It must be to the end that men are saved.
4. It must destroy the works of the Devil.
5. It must be unto edification.

Go and do Greater works! The world is waiting for you.
I'm sure by yourself, if you go through those meaning very well you will discover you're presently involved in one work. This means you need to appreciate and cherish the little assignment that God has committed into your hands because it is your privilege to do greater works for HIM. Only have the standards at Heart!

Say after me: I will do greater work with all I'm occupied with to the glory of God.
